Day 85: Kid love Cake
It’s no secret I have a sweet tooth. More like sweet teeth, I’m not one to turn down dessert, like ever (Unless it’s Lent and I’m on my chocolate ban and then I turn into Sarah, Queen Grump Supreme. I don’t care what people say, I give up chocolate for 40 days and as soon as Easter comes round, that chocolate bunny is mine dammit). So I was pleasantly surprised when I moved to Japan and had cake at a local bakery.
I don’t know what it is, but I can walk into any eatery, from the supermarket to a streetside bakery to even the Lawson’s on the corner, pick out a cake and it will be amazingly delicious.
Cake isn’t an easy dessert. Too many factors can go wrong, the frosting is too sweet or doesn’t set, the cake can be undercooked or crumbly, or even worse, dry and stale with no flavor. The cake here is simply just.
Just the right amount of sweetness. Just the right amount of density and moisture. Just the right amount of flavor. Just the right amount of frosting to cake ratio. Just the right amount where the cake is delicious and not to mention ridiculously adorable.
